PARISH RELIGIOUS EDUCATION FOR CHILDREN
Welcome to Our Lady of Sorrows PREP! We look forward to working with our families to be active participants in their child’s faith journey.
Our classes are taught by volunteer catechists and aides under the direction of the Coordinator, Sister Natalie, and in keeping with the mandate and learning outcomes of the Office of Catechetics (Archdiocese of Vancouver). Our catechists continue their own faith journey through prayer and attendance at various workshops and retreats throughout the year.
GRADES OFFERED
Our classes are offered for children in Kindergarten (beginning at 4 years old) to Grade 7.
We also have a Teens class for high school students who are in need of receiving the Sacraments.
EXPECTATIONS
“Regular attendance is essential for the PREP program, as each class builds on the next.
DO NOT MISS MORE THAN FIVE CLASSES.
Students who miss five or more sessions will be required to repeat the year in order to fully receive the formation being offered.
We appreciate your understanding and dedication to this important commitment.”
It is also important to your child’s faith formation to:
- Faithfully attend ALL PREP classes
- Faithfully attend Sunday mass
- Faithfully continue their learning of the catechism and prayers in their home where your child’s relationship with Christ can grow and flourish
SACRAMENT PREPARATION
First Holy Communion and Confirmation are two very important milestones in your child’s faith formation. Preparation is a two (2) year process of PREP instruction.
